Viscon Presents Big Opportunity to Improve Air Quality

October 24 17, 2011 Bakersfield, CA. – Bakersfield based Viscon California LLC’s technology reduces particulate matter emissions from diesel exhaust by over 25%. This fact has recently been officially verified by the California Air Resources Board’s (CARB) Executive Order. This long awaited verification from the State of California, makes Viscon the sole CARB-approved diesel fuel additive in the State.

Viscon’s technology will play a major role in improving air quality and health. This is welcome news for Kern County which is among the worst rated air quality regions in the United States. Viscon’s verification by CARB is considered a significant public health and environmental benefit.

According to the Office of Environmental Health Hazard Assessment (OEHHA), “The use of Viscon diesel fuel may reduce morbidity and mortality due to pulmonary diseases, including lung cancer in adults and allergic asthma in children, caused by substances in particles contained in diesel exhaust.” The American Lung Association and research in the State of the Air’s 2011 report attributes much of the poor air quality in the Kern County region to diesel engine exhaust, making Viscon’s technology a viable solution to help tackle this problem.

Viscon is already treating 100 million gallons of fuel per month, mostly outside of California. To date, Viscon has treated over 3 billion gallons of fuel. Now that Viscon has the CARB verification, its technology can be readily used to address long overdue air quality issues locally as well as state-wide. “We are eager to help California accomplish its stated goal to reduce particulate matter (PM) emissions by 85 percent by the year 2020”, said Michael Porter, CEO of Viscon USA. Some of our local businesses are already contributing to this goal. For example, the Kern County Superintendents of Schools achieved a 43 percent reduction in the smoke opacity of school buses by using Viscon blended with its diesel fuel.

While the CARB Executive Order applies to diesel fuel, Viscon can be used to treat all types of fuel. In addition to reducing the PM emissions, Viscon prides itself on its ability to enhance fuel performance and save on fuel costs, as well as to reduce the amount of greenhouse gas emissions released from the combustion of fuel.

-- CARBON CREDITS --
Converting CO2 To Energy

Capturing CO2 and improving thermal and volumetric efficiency reduces emissions that would otherwise exit the exhaust into the atmosphere.   The quality of each carbon credit is determined by the standards and methodology of the project.   High quality credits are the result of following stringent, scientifically proven governmental protocols for emissions testing.

Individual and Corporate social responsibility requires High Quality CO2 projects in their carbon footprint strategy.   Viscon Carbon Credits exhibit permanent nonreversible Scope 3 CO2 emission reductions generated in the USA.   The additional GHG emission reductions places these in the category of a Supper Offset Credit.
